Who likes farm fresh artisan cheeses? Who doesn’t right?
With all humility aside, we make terrifically tasty cheeses.  The word is out and we have been asked to teach others our secrets.

As a result…we decided to announce our Introduction To Cheese Making Class!

NEW CLASS DATE:  Fall 2013 – TO BE ANNOUNCED

Classes are held on Saturdays with the hours of: 10am – 4pm

If you want to suggest a future class date, please register here. The class size is limited to fifteen (15) students per class.

Heart Of The Garden Farms is hosting the Fall 2013 Education Series by kicking off the new season with our nationally recognized, Introduction to Cheese Making Class. Over the last few years, we’ve held the event at our farm in Myakka, Florida. Many of our prior students really enjoyed visiting the farm during their cheese making class, however we have since moved to the burbs in Bradenton, Florida. In the meantime, we are really excited to announce our new class location in downtown Sarasota.

We’ve secured the beautiful commercial kitchen at the Robert L Taylor Community Center. The kitchen has ample space, unlike our little farm kitchen, and so there will be plenty of room to get “hands-on” in the cheese making process.

Even though the space will easily accommodate 30-40 students, we are limiting enrollment to just 15 students in order to allow for participation of everyone in attendance. We’ve had dozens of new class inquiries and the upcoming date will absolutely sell out! We may announce additional fall dates, however our schedule is pretty crazy right now, so jump on this class without delay.

All you need for the class is a pair of comfortable shoes and a sack lunch. Refrigerator space is available for your lunch as needed. You’ll be on your feet a good portion of the class, although chairs are provided. We will provide lesson materials, recipes, bottled water and maybe some other surprises. Hmmm? We’ll see 😉

Student Testimonials…

“Dear Melissa and Rick,
Thank you so much for a delightful, educational day!  It was wonderful meeting you both and I’m happy to report that my ricotta turned out great, even though I made a boo boo and didn’t ladle the curds out of the whey. Thanks again for establishing my baseline cheese making knowledge.

I had so much fun learning the fundamentals of cheese making with Melissa. With an easygoing manner and an easy to follow step-by-step format, she showed us the basics and shared her secrets acquired from trial and error.  If you’re at all curious about how to make cheese, don’t let this opportunity pass you by.” Sigi M. – Sarasota, FL

“It was awesome and thank you again for sharing!”
Dawn H. – Sarasota, FL

“I attended Melissa’s “Cheese making 101” class the other day & the old adage “If I can do it anyone can” really applies. In the class Melissa explains in detail each step of the process & interjects hints & tips gained from her experience in making cheeses. This is a great hands on class, especially for those who learn more by seeing it done than by reading how to do it. It’s amazing to see gallons of milk transformed into pounds of cottage cheese & “wheels” of cheddar. When I left I had the confidence to go home & make cheese the way I like it not the way KRAFT thinks I like it. If anyone has ever thought of making cheese they owe to themselves to check out her next class, it’s well worth it. Thanks Melissa it was GREAT!” Fred S. – Sarasota, FL

“The cheese making class was absolutely technically professional and covered the necessary information for us to begin this art.  The class was a delight.” Gem S. – Sarasota, FL
